Responsibilities
- Verify and code medical records accurately using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (commercial and government) in a timely manner.
- Analyze and follow up on denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review patient accounts for insurance eligibility and authorization requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-A preferred; medical billing experience required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical records.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
