Responsibilities
- Accurately submit and follow up on medical claims to insurance carriers using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Verify and validate patient insurance information to ensure compliance and reduce denials.
- Review and analyze claims for errors, discrepancies, or missing information before submission.
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries and payment issues.
- Manage the revenue cycle process, including posting payments and adjustments.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations, coding updates (ICD-10, CPT), and compliance standards (HIPAA).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or Certificate in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
- Previous experience in medical billing or Revenue Cycle Management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Athenahealth, Epic, or Cerner).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
