Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and clearinghouses.
- Review and analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements to identify and resolve claim denials and underpayments efficiently.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers to resolve billing discrepancies, answer inquiries, and collect outstanding balances professionally.
- Ensure all billing practices strictly comply with HIPAA regulations and payer requirements.
- Manage revenue cycle workflows, including coding verification, charge entry, and account reconciliation.
- Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on changing coding guidelines, payer policies, and billing software updates.
Qualifications
- Certification (CPC, COC, or CPC-A) preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or Cerner).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
