Responsibilities
- Analyze and submit medical claims to insurance payers (Commercial and Medicare/Medicaid) to ensure maximum reimbursement and compliance.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services to minimize claim denials.
- Manage the entire revenue cycle process, from charge entry to final payment, including follow-up on aged accounts.
- Review medical records and coding documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries and payment issues.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) to maintain accurate patient financial records.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry changes.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) software.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Professional communication skills with a focus on customer service.
