Responsibilities
- Verify and enter patient insurance information into the billing system with 100% accuracy.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) electronically.
- Review and follow up on denied or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable and aging reports to identify and resolve outstanding balances.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their financial responsibilities and outstanding balances.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding updates (ICD-10, CPT).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is a plus.
- Certification (CPC, COC, or CRC) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (Epic, Athenahealth, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
