Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and insurance details to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers electronically and manually using billing software.
- Monitor claim status and follow up diligently on denied, delayed, or underpaid claims.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve account discrepancies with professionalism.
- Update patient demographics and financial information in the EHR system.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and state/federal billing laws.
- Collaborate with coding and administrative staff to resolve complex billing issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Current certification (CPC, CBCS, RHIT) is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic).
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a high-volume setting.
