Responsibilities
- Review patient demographics and insurance information to ensure billing accuracy.
- Generate and submit clean claims to payers via electronic clearinghouses.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, including submitting necessary appeals.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Reconcile daily remittance advices and post payments.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Health Administration preferred.
- CPC, CMA, or RHIT certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
