Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage for all services rendered
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denied claims through effective follow-up
- Maintain complete and organized patient billing records in compliance with HIPAA
- Communicate professionally with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment options
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and reporting
- Analyze billing reports to identify trends and process improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced healthcare environment
