Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and gather necessary documentation.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Payers) electronically.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims and denials.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state healthcare billing regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC or COC certification is a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or healthcare administration.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) or similar EHR systems.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding sets.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to detect errors in data entry.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance providers.
