Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and charge sheets to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Manage and resolve denied claims and appeals to maximize revenue collection.
- Communicate with patients regarding account balances, invoices, and payment plans.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner, to document billing activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Assist in month-end close processes and generate financial reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or relevant field preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CRC is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
