Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT) for billing purposes.
- Submit claims to insurance companies (CMS-1500, UB-04) and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records and financial reports.
- Communicate with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare professionals regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing guidelines (HIPAA, Stark Law).
- Reconcile daily banking transactions and manage accounts receivable.
Qualifications
- CPC, CPC-H, RHIT, or RHIA certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
