Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Submit and follow up on claims with insurance payers (private and government) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient accounts and handle patient inquiries regarding invoices and insurance coverage.
- Identify and resolve billing errors or discrepancies to minimize denials and write-offs.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations, coding updates, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC, CMC, or RHIA certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and billing software.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
