Responsibilities
- Accurately complete and submit medical claims using the CMS-1500 form to various insurance payers.
- Monitor claim status, track payments, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements to identify and resolve billing errors.
- Manage patient accounts, including addressing billing inquiries and facilitating payments.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
- Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to identify trends and improve claim acceptance rates.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent billing certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic or AthenaHealth.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients and insurance representatives.
