Responsibilities
- Accurately verify patient demographics and insurance information to ensure correct billing.
- Submit and follow up on claims with insurance carriers (BCBS, Aetna, United, etc.) to maximize reimbursement.
- Review and resubmit denied or rejected claims to minimize revenue loss.
- Utilize medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent) to manage patient accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of billing transactions and patient interactions.
- Stay updated on current medical coding guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and payer policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing questions and account status.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Certification (CPC, CBCS, RHIA) is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
