Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to insurance providers (CMS-1500, UB-04).
- Review and follow up on denied or rejected claims to ensure timely resolution.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information to prevent billing errors.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and maintain accurate financial records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and internal healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT).
- Assist in the implementation of new billing software and processes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CBCS is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and medical terminology.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
