Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical insurance claims for accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Communicate with insurance carriers to resolve denied or underpaid claims efficiently and effectively.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and trust.
- Update patient medical records with accurate billing information using practice management software.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing protocols.
- Analyze billing reports to identify trends and areas for process improvement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Management, or related field preferred.
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist), or CPB (Certified Professional Biller) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in medical billing and claims processing (minimum 1-2 years).
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficient in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or NextGen.
