Responsibilities
- Front Desk Operations: Manage the front desk by greeting patients warmly, managing check-in and check-out processes, and ensuring a smooth patient flow throughout the day.
- Communication Hub: Answer incoming calls with professionalism, route messages to the appropriate medical staff, and handle patient inquiries regarding appointments and insurance details.
- Scheduling: Accurately schedule new and follow-up appointments using our EMR system, ensuring optimal doctor and patient availability.
- Administrative Support: Verify patient insurance coverage, process co-pays, and update patient medical records with new demographic information.
- Mail & Correspondence: Sort and distribute incoming mail, process outgoing faxes, and maintain an organized reception area and waiting room.
- Problem Resolution: Address patient concerns and complaints with empathy, escalating complex issues to the Practice Manager when necessary.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Administration preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical front-desk or reception role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in electronic health record (EMR/EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Practice Fusion) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, basic coding (ICD-10/CPT), and insurance verification processes.
- Interpersonal: Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Professionalism: Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations strictly.
