Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify identities, and collect necessary demographic and insurance information accurately.
- Front Desk Management: Answer incoming calls professionally, screen messages, and route calls to the appropriate medical staff promptly.
- Scheduling: Manage the practice calendar by scheduling patient appointments, sending reminders, and rescheduling as necessary to optimize provider workflows.
- Administrative Support: Handle patient check-in/check-out processes, including collecting copays and processing payments.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments to ensure seamless billing.
- Record Management: Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR) and paper files with up-to-date patient information.
- Communication: Act as the first point of contact for patients, resolving inquiries and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Medical Administrative Assistant certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist or Front Desk Coordinator.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is highly preferred.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, basic billing practices, and insurance procedures.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient service and confidentiality.
- Organization: Ability to multi-task effectively in a busy environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and strict adherence to patient privacy laws.
