Job Overview
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for the efficient operation of the front desk. This role requires a high level of organization, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the front desk operations with precision, professionalism, and a welcoming attitude.
- Check patients in and out accurately, collecting copays and insurance information.
- Schedule patient appointments via phone and our EMR system, ensuring optimal provider utilization.
- Answer incoming calls, route messages, and handle patient inquiries with empathy and efficiency.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Update and maintain accurate patient medical records and demographics in the EMR system.
- Process payments, handle billing inquiries, and assist with insurance claims as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or Front Desk Assistant (minimum 1 year).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Basic math skills for processing payments and handling financial transactions.
