Responsibilities
- Monitor Patient Health: Observe and report changes in patient condition, vital signs, and behavior to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assist with Daily Living: Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Administer Medication: Assist patients with medication as directed by licensed nurses, ensuring accurate timing and documentation.
- Maintain Hygiene: Change linens, make beds, and ensure the patient’s environment is clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient care plans, intake/output, and any incidents in electronic health records (EHR).
- Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of Virginia.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting is preferred but not always required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Compassion: A genuine passion for patient care and a positive, empathetic attitude.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
