Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties to assist physicians and nursing staff. You will be responsible for patient intake, basic lab work, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for every visitor.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and verify patient information upon check-in.
- Prepare examination rooms by organizing equipment and supplies.
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and weight.
- Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures as needed.
- Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., urine analysis, finger sticks) and prepare samples for analysis.
- Administer injections and medications under the direct supervision of a licensed provider.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred, but new graduates with externship experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
