Responsibilities
- Verify and update patient insurance information and demographic data accurately.
- Submit medical claims to insurance payers electronically (EDI) and via paper (CMS-1500).
- Research and follow up on denied, rejected, and pending claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Generate and send patient statements, and communicate with patients regarding their financial responsibility.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with providers to resolve coding and documentation issues.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- CPC, CPC-A, or CEMC certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid setting.
