Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and track claim status through resolution
- Manage accounts receivable follow-up for denied or underpaid claims
- Conduct insurance eligibility verification and patient benefit analysis
- Generate monthly reports on key performance metrics (e.g., collection rates, denial reasons)
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit standards
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve billing discrepancies and documentation issues
Qualifications
- 2+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athena, NextGen) and MS Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills for patient and insurer interactions
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field required
