Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and track reimbursement status
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denials through effective communication with providers and payers
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing compliance standards
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and collections
- Collaborate with front desk staff to verify patient insurance eligibility
- Update patient records and billing systems with accurate information
Qualifications
- 1+ years of medical billing experience (preferred but not required)
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CIC, or CCS) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
- Knowledge of insurance claim processes and third-party payers
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
