Responsibilities
- Review patient demographics and insurance information to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 and electronic formats) in a timely manner.
- Track claim status and follow up on denied or unpaid claims to secure reimbursement.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries.
- Maintain and update patient records and billing systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Analyze monthly reports to identify trends in denials and improve revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CBCS, or CPC-H) is a plus but not strictly required.
- 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related field.
- Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
