Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper specimen labeling per HIPAA protocols
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control standards throughout procedures
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory while ensuring chain-of-custody integrity
- Calibrate and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment daily
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-care instructions
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT) required
- Minimum 6 months clinical phlebotomy experience in a medical setting
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
