Responsibilities
- Draw Blood: Collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic technique and standard safety protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions before, during, and after the procedure.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, log, and transport specimens to the laboratory for processing.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and logs in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations to prevent the spread of infection.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT, ASPT, NHA, or equivalent) is required.
- Licensure: Valid Phlebotomy license in the State of Texas.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates with clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Strong manual dexterity and ability to perform venipunctures on patients of all ages (pediatric to geriatric).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient care.
- Soft Skills: Professional demeanor, empathy, and ability to work well under pressure.
