Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic techniques and proper safety protocols.
- Greet and prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process to reduce anxiety and ensuring consent forms are signed.
- Verify patient identification and accurately label specimens to prevent mix-ups and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for daily use.
- Process and transport specimens to the laboratory promptly for analysis.
- Update patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system with correct data entry.
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking and ordering phlebotomy supplies.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Student (CPT-A) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to stand for long durations and lift up to 25 lbs repeatedly.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all demographics.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
