Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Monitor inventory and surgical supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels
- Transport patients and specimens according to safety protocols
- Document surgical events and equipment usage in electronic health records
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, AORN, and facility safety standards
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience preferred
- BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
- Pass background check and drug screening
