Responsibilities
- Preoperative Preparation: Assist surgeons by preparing operating rooms with necessary instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
- Surgical Assistance: Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Instrument Care: Properly count and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies to ensure patient safety and compliance.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and provide comfort measures throughout the surgical process.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, procedures, and instrument counts in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow complex instructions.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations effectively.
