Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical equipment according to procedure specifications
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and maintaining sterile environments
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre/post-procedure to ensure compliance
- Transport patients and position them safely for surgical interventions
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments per OSHA standards
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia teams to optimize surgical workflow
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year OR experience preferred
- BLS certification from AHA
- Knowledge of sterile processing protocols and aseptic techniques
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ pounds
- Strong attention to detail and emergency response skills
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation systems
