Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical cases
- Count and account for all surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following established guidelines
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure smooth patient turnover between cases
- Document case activities accurately in the electronic health record system
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent operating room experience preferred
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends
- Current BLS certification
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
