Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately receive, verify, and dispense prescription medications according to physician orders and state regulations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage supply orders, and ensure proper storage and rotation of pharmaceuticals.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients to answer questions regarding prescriptions, insurance, and medication usage.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines, DEA regulations, and company policies to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Pharmacist Assistance: Assist the supervising pharmacist with compounding, filling, and labeling of prescriptions efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks on medication packaging and labeling to ensure zero errors.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Licensure: Valid California Pharmacy Technician License (RPhT) is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to navigate pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR).
