Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense and verify medications following prescription orders and safety protocols
- Manage prescription processing, including data entry, insurance verification, and inventory control
- Provide exceptional customer service, counseling patients on medication usage and side effects
- Maintain sterile compounding environments and adhere to HIPAA compliance standards
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve medication discrepancies and ensure patient safety
- Operate pharmacy technology systems including automated dispensing machines and EMR software
- Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and maintaining departmental efficiency
Qualifications
- Active New York State Pharmacy Technician license (required)
- Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience (1+ years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medications, and compounding procedures
- Excellent communication skills with ability to clearly explain complex information
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office applications
- Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy in prescription processing and documentation
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining compliance standards
- CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
