Responsibilities
- Verify Prescription Accuracy: Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, checking for drug interactions and allergies before processing.
- Prepare Medications: Accurately fill prescriptions by counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and maintain an organized, clean, and safe storage area.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients, answering questions about medications, insurance, and pharmacy services.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work complies with state and federal laws, including HIPAA regulations and OSHA safety standards.
- Pharmacist Support: Assist the lead pharmacist with compounding, specialized formulations, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail; proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., McKesson, Cerner).
- Licensure: Valid state Pharmacy Technician license in Texas.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient privacy and empathy.
