Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Customer Service: Greet patients, answer phone inquiries, and resolve prescription questions with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming deliveries, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Prescription Processing: Verify prescriptions for accuracy and completeness, and input data into pharmacy management systems.
- Insurance Processing: Assist patients with insurance verification and claim submissions to minimize wait times.
- Quality Control: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and DEA compliance.
- Special Projects: Participate in medication therapy management initiatives and patient education programs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in pharmacy technology preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent mathematical skills for dosage calculations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer Proficiency: Must be comfortable using pharmacy software and electronic health records.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
