Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection techniques
- Process and transport specimens while maintaining chain of custody protocols
- Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labeling
- Maintain sterile work environments and adhere to OSHA standards
- Train junior phlebotomists on advanced techniques and patient care
- Operate automated analyzers and troubleshoot technical issues
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Participate in quality control initiatives and process improvements
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting
- Certification from ASCP, NHA, or equivalent phlebotomy organization
- Proven expertise in difficult vein access and pediatric collections
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and specimen handling
- Exceptional communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred
