Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently while adhering to HIPAA compliance standards
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation
- Process insurance claims and maintain accurate patient records in pharmacy systems
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering medication inquiries and resolving concerns
- Collaborate with pharmacists to compound medications and prepare IV solutions
- Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, and Illinois Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians on department protocols
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician license or eligibility to obtain immediately
- Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred
- Proficiency in pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) and inventory systems
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication interactions
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in high-pressure situations
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
