Responsibilities
- Verify the accuracy of prescriptions, including checking for drug interactions and allergies, before dispensing medication.
- Prepare and package prescription medications, ensuring proper labeling and dosage instructions are clear.
- Assist customers with medication questions and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and organizing pharmaceutical stock to prevent shortages.
- Operate pharmacy dispensing software and maintain accurate records of patient transactions and inventory logs.
- Assist the supervising pharmacist with clinical tasks, such as medication therapy management (MTM) support.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment remains clean, organized, and compliant with all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by PTCB or ExCPT is required.
- Current and active California Pharmacy Technician License.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately under time pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with pharmacy management systems.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
