Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and package prescribed medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage the storage of controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare professionals to answer questions, provide medication information, and resolve inquiries professionally.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all dispensing processes adhere to HIPAA guidelines, state board regulations, and company policies.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks on medication labels, expiration dates, and dosage forms to minimize errors.
- Prescription Processing: Verify insurance coverage and process electronic prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current California State Board of Pharmacy Technician Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on details to ensure patient safety and medication accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management systems (e.g., Rx30, McKesson) and electronic health records.
