Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure a comfortable experience during blood draws.
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures efficiently and accurately following strict protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment to ensure safety standards are met at all times.
- Record Keeping: Accurately label, log, and file specimens and patient information in the EMR system.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to all CLIA and OSHA regulations and participate in quality control processes.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and healthcare providers regarding specimen status.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT) or equivalent required.
- Licensure: Valid state license to practice phlebotomy in Kansas.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Skills: Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner.
- Reliability: Ability to commit to a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
