Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label, process, and store blood specimens.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a sterile environment and sanitize equipment after every use.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely and accurate test results.
- Update patient charts and ensure all documentation is complete and legible.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
