Responsibilities
- Perform Venipunctures: Accurately draw blood samples using aseptic techniques and proper anatomical landmarks.
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patient comfort and explain procedures clearly to alleviate anxiety.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport biological specimens to the laboratory.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment according to strict safety protocols.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information and test results in electronic health records (EHR).
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and HIPAA regulations to ensure a safe environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock supplies to ensure the department operates efficiently.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
- Training: Completion of a state-approved phlebotomy training program or enrollment in our paid training track.
- Certification: Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or willingness to obtain after training.
- Licensure: California Phlebotomy Technician license (if required by employer).
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Physical Ability: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
