Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures, capillary draws, and arterial punctures with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Label, process, and transport biological specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols.
- Interact professionally and empathetically with patients of all ages, explaining procedures and alleviating anxiety.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards and safety regulations (OSHA).
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify management of shortages.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen collection.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain accurate patient records.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Technician (PT) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients safely when necessary.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is a plus.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
