Responsibilities
- Perform accurate blood draws using venipuncture and micro-collection techniques.
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory following strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized phlebotomy station in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen delivery and patient care.
- Manage patient demographics and insurance information within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Handle difficult patients with empathy and professionalism while adhering to safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move patients or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Proficient in using computer systems for data entry and reporting.
