Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages and conditions.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label all specimens before submission to the lab.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and privacy standards (HIPAA).
- Prepare blood samples and handle specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Assist patients with the check-in process and provide a calming, professional demeanor.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of all phlebotomy equipment and workspaces.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure efficient patient flow.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn electronic health records (EHR).
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is a plus but not mandatory.
