Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with high accuracy and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label, process, and store specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, ensuring they are informed and comfortable throughout the collection process.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work area in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely specimen delivery for diagnostic testing.
- Handle incoming and outgoing specimens with strict adherence to Chain of Custody procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (ASCPT, CPT, or equivalent) required.
- Current state licensure or registration as a Phlebotomy Technician in Arizona.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
