Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Verify patient identities and strictly adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Accurately label, log, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile phlebotomy station.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and care.
- Handle difficult draws with patience and professional technique.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA) required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
