Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Verify patient identity and accurately prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to strict protocols.
- Maintain a sterile environment and strictly adhere to OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and ensure proper waste disposal procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and nurses to ensure timely specimen processing.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., ASCP, NAACLS, or equivalent) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-volume patient flow.
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of following complex instructions accurately.
