Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following strict protocols
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transportation of laboratory specimens
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in electronic health systems
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to reduce anxiety
- Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Collaborate with lab staff and healthcare providers for seamless patient care
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Valid CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to comfort anxious patients
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Excellent attention to detail and infection control practices
- High school diploma or equivalent required
